What Is Nail Fungus? And What Causes It?

Nail fungus is a common condition that begins as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail. As the fungal infection goes deeper into your nail bed, the fungus may cause your nail to discolor, thicken, and crumble at the edge. But even after successful treatment, nail fungus often returns. Nail fungus can affect your fingernails, but it's more common in toenails.

Nail fungus is caused by various fungal organisms (fungi). The most common is a type called dermatophyte. Yeast, bacteria, and molds can also cause nail infections.

Nail fungus is also called onychomycosis (on-ih-koh-my-KOH-sis). When fungus infects the areas between your toes and the skin of your feet, it's called athlete's foot (tinea pedis). Athlete's Foot can also spread to your toenails and cause nail fungus.

Identifying Nail Fungus

Many people pick up the fungi when they have skin-to-skin contact with someone with a fungal infection. Another common way to get a fungal nail infection is walking barefoot in a warm, moist area such as a pool deck or locker room.

Instructions

To Start:

Wet Naturasil Nail Fungus Soap and create a generous lather.
Wash thoroughly around nail beds and up and under around nails and fingers or toes.
Use Naturasil Nail Fungus Medicated Soap* at least twice daily for 4-10 days.

After your nails are dry apply Naturasil for Nail Fungus topical liquid to the affected areas of your nails with the convenient applicator brush. There may be some burning sensation, but do not be alarmed.

Ensure the solution is applied as much as possible underneath the nail. Apply nail fungus treatment three times per day until the nail fungus is completely gone. Nail fungus should start to diminish within two weeks.

It can take several weeks to months to eliminate nail infections because of the slow growth time of the nail. Remember, the nail must grow free of fungus before it is entirely healthy. If you do not continue treatment until the nail has fully grown out, the nail fungus may return.

*Some individuals may be sensitive to essential oils. Please, skin test for tolerability. If irritation or reaction occurs, discontinue use. Results may vary.
