DIY SPA DAY
After a busy week, there is something so many of us look forward to: a relaxing and perhaps pampering weekend. Self-care is essential to help ease tension and stress that builds up. The reality is that it can be challenging to splurge on a day at a spa for various reasons. The following are a few all-natural, do-it-yourself body, face, and hair treatments that go a long way to helping you enjoy a ‘spa’ day at home without hurting your wallet.
Exfoliating Honey Face Mask
Two simple ingredients that, when combined, gently exfoliate your delicate skin and leave it feeling refreshed and ready to seize a whole new day!
What You’ll Need:
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 1 tbsp Baking Soda
What To Do:
- Combine the honey and baking soda thoroughly until it forms a paste.
- Apply it to your skin by rubbing it in slow, circular motions.
- Leave on for 20 minutes, and rinse with warm water.
- Pat skin dry gently.
Optional: Apply a light dab of coconut oil for a natural moisture boost!
All-Natural Hair Conditioning Mask: Egg & Olive Oil Hair Mask
This hair mask is one of my favorites to help rehydrate my hair and soothe an itchy, dry scalp! It involves getting messy, but the results are worth it.
What You’ll Need:- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon of your favorite olive oil
What To Do:
- Crack both eggs in a bowl and add in olive oil. Whisk until thoroughly blended.
- Add the mixture to your hair from scalp to ends, gently massaging it.
- Use a disposable shower cap or plastic shopping bag to carefully wrap your hair and keep the mixture from leaking/dripping everywhere!
- Leave it on for about 30 minutes.
- Rinse the mixture out thoroughly with cool to lukewarm water.*
- Shampoo and condition your hair like normal, and enjoy the results!
*Cool to lukewarm water is ideal for rinsing out this hair mask. The eggs can and may ‘cook’ in your hair if the water’s temperature is too hot!
Coconut & Lavender Sea Salt Scrub
An easy way to get your body and senses feeling spoiled is by whipping up an easy and fantastic body scrub to help exfoliate dead skin and reveal soft and youthful skin underneath!
What You’ll Need:
- 2 cups of Coconut Oil
- 1 cup of Sea Salt (or Epsom Salt)
- 5–10 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
What To Do:
- Combine all of the ingredients in a container of your choice.
- Use in the shower or bath by gently rubbing into the skin in a circular motion to exfoliate troubled areas or to smooth your skin before your shave for an even closer shave!
- The best part of doing-it-yourself natural beauty treatments is that they are generally simple to make and are much better and easier on your skin than treatments you can buy that may contain many harsh chemicals. The other benefit is knowing that you can also find other safe and all-natural ingredients you can add to make the treatments more personalized to you!
